Help - Pro - Getting Started
Just want to get started? Quick steps below!
-
Login to the Pro control panel,
in the Sites section make sure the website base
URL is accurate, change it if need be. This needs to be
the common base URL of your site (ex: http://mysite.com,
http://myblog.blogger.com, http://myhost.com/mysite). Widgets are authenticated
against this URL to prevent hijacking of your stats and will not work for any
other site. Subdomains do work, so if you have http://subdomain.mysite.com and
http://mysite.com, one widget will work on both.
-
Back at the control panel home page, select the Widgets option.
Select Add a New Widget. You will be presented with a page of options that
change depending on the type of widget you would like. Once you are done
configuring your widget, save it and copy the code shown to the HTML code of
your website. To get started we recommend just creating a classic widget, with a
link back to the stats pages, and placing it in a common footer or sidebar that is
included in every page of your site for accurate tracking. If you want to change
this widget in the future you just have to log into the control panel and edit the
widget from the Widgets page, no need to change the code on your site (as long as
you are able to use the Javascript (top code box) code, HTML code should ONLY be
used for sites where you must use, ie. hosted Wordpress blogs).
-
Visit your site, ensure the widget is being displayed (probably not a good idea
to initially test with an invisible widget because of this). Itʼs showing? Great! Click
it (assuming you selected the link back to stats page option when creating the
widget) and you end up at your stats pages. Some stats will be available right
away; others may take up to an hour to show up when you first add a widget to
your site.
- What to do now? Play with the themes, dashboard layout, and settings in your Pro control panel!
